Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 19, 2026

1. Overview

SubGauge is software that runs entirely on your own computer. It does not transmit any information to the developer or to any third party.

2. What information the app handles

SubGauge stores, locally on your computer, the subscription information you enter (service name, amount, billing cycle, renewal date, etc.) and account information (login ID, password, URL, notes, and additional secrets such as API keys).

This data is encrypted with a key derived from your master password (Argon2id) and stored at rest with AES-256-GCM encryption. It is never transmitted anywhere, to the developer or anyone else.

3. Information we do not collect

None of the following is collected:

4. Where data is stored

All data is stored exclusively on your computer's local disk. SubGauge does not sync or back up data to any cloud server. (Creating or restoring an encrypted backup file is a feature you control and initiate yourself.)

5. Sharing with third parties

Since no data ever leaves your device, there is nothing to share with third parties.

6. About the master password

The master password is deliberately designed to be unrecoverable. If you forget it, nobody — including the developer — can recover your data. The setup screen recommends writing it down and storing it somewhere safe.

7. Deleting your data

Uninstalling the app and deleting the data file yourself removes all data completely. The data file's location can be found in the app's settings screen.

8. Children's privacy

SubGauge is not directed at any specific age group and is not designed to collect information from children.

9. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, this page will be updated to reflect the change.
